Definitions

These definitions are broadly (but not totally) used in the androgyne/genderqueer/third gender/choose-your-own-label communities. However, every individual tends to have their own definitions so these certainly are not definitive (excuse the pun). Also, it should be noted that the androgyne and genderqueer communities often use slightly different definitions of these words to the larger transgender community. As you can imagine, this often can cause arguments as two people use the same word to mean different things. Hence, please take these with a large pinch of salt and remember that what you mean when you us a certain word, may not be what the person your talking to understands you to mean. Also it should be noted that the absolute label to apply to someone's Gender Identity is that which they choose themselves.

LGBT
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender
Gender Identity
This is how someone perceives their Gender. It is intrinisic and far more important than their biological sex
Sex/Biological Sex
Whether someone is male, female or intersex (this is not the same as man, woman or androgyne - these are Gender Identities)
Gender Binary/Gender Dichotomy
These terms are often used to describe the traditional view of there being only two gender identities - man and woman, which are absolutely rigid
Transgender
Someone who's gender identity doesn't conform with the Gender Binary
Androgyne/Polygender/Third Gender
Someone who see's themselves as between or outside the Gender Binary
Genderqueer
This is often used as an alternative to Androgyne. However there are political connotations with Genderqueer that aren't present with Androgyne and which label someone chooses tends to depend upon whether they buy into the politics
Neutrois/Nongender/Agender
People who feel that they have no gender
